COMPUSEC
Computer
Security (COMPUSEC) involves protecting computer systems against penetration,
eavesdropping, data alteration, or disruption by unauthorized persons.
BESTEQ works with our clients to specify your security requirements.
Although public awareness of the need for security in computing systems
is growing rapidly, current efforts to provide security are unlikely
to succeed. Current security efforts suffer from the flawed assumption
that adequate security can be provided in applications with the existing
security mechanisms of mainstream operating systems. In reality, the
need for secure operating systems is growing in today’s computing environment
due to substantial increases in connectivity and data sharing.
BESTEQ’s
technical personnel are certified to assess the threats to your computer
systems, identify the possible outcomes of a security breach, and assess
the likely costs consequent to a breach. BESTEQ’s technical personnel
focus on real threats rather than theoretical threats. We identify proven
and effective security techniques that include both physical computer
systems access and physical environment access that can be implemented
quickly and inexpensively.
Computer
Systems Access
Security in a data communications environment means different things
to different people. In contemporary computer network environments there
are four fundamental objectives that BESTEQ closely works towards with
our clients:
- Confidentiality
- ensuring that computer systems are not disclosed or revealed to
unauthorized persons. This is often known as low probability of detection
(LPD).
-
Integrity - preventing unauthorized access to the system, sometimes
referred to as low probability of interception (LPI).
-
Availability - ensuring that legitimate users are not unduly
denied access to resources.
-
Legitimate use - ensuring that resources are not used by unauthorized
persons or in unauthorized ways.
Physical
Systems Access
In addition to the computer systems access that is required for a secure
environment, physical access to buildings, offices, and laboratories
is required. BESTEQ develops leading-edge security with the use of Smart
Cards and physiometrics (sometimes known as biometrics) that measure
a physical characteristic such as a fingerprint to ensure the identification
of the person accessing a facility or a network.
